- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 cups Guittard milk chocolate chips (or any high-quality milk chocolate chips)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, saving a few to press on top after baking.
- Scoop large dough balls (about 3.25 oz each). Break each in half and press the halves back together with the craggly side up for that signature look.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
- Press extra chocolate chips on top immediately after baking for a bakery-style finish.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 20 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
